v1.0.0 — bare is out
22 July 2026bare 1.0 — pay what you want from $5, one-time, after a 14-day free trial. Everything from the beta, plus a full quality-of-life wave:
- Tabs and split view — files open in tabs, the view splits 50/50, and the Changes diff follows the side you're working in.
- Real multi-window — one folder per window (
⌘⇧N); bare remembers your windows, tabs, and split on quit and restores them exactly on relaunch. - A quit guard — quitting with unsaved edits shows one review dialog: Save All, Discard, or Cancel. bare never quits past a failed save.
- Branch switcher — the header shows your branch; click it to switch. Unsaved files block the switch before git is ever called.
- Right-click everything — native context menus on files and folders: create, rename, Copy and Paste, Reveal in Finder, and Move to Trash (recoverable — bare never permanently deletes).
- A calmer Changes pane — include everything with one tick, and moved files shown as a single row, not a delete plus an add.
